For the layers rearing in a poultry farming,a laying cycle is made up of 2 parts

The first part is the rearing cycle is the chickens are raised from 0-20 weeks

The second part is the laying stage where the hens lay eggs,21 weeks to 60 weeks,this is 40 weeks long,about 10 months

There are 2 different poultry cages used in this two phase:brooder cage and layer cage

I will introduce more details of brooding cage and layer cage in this article

Let us firstly see brooder cage

1. Brooder cage is also called baby cage,chick cage or pullet cage,it is used to rear baby egg laying chicken from one day old chicks till to 12-16 weeks old

Type: A type,3 tiers

Size: 2m long by 2m wide by 1.65m high

Capacity: 120-150 chicks per cage

Accessories: 1L manual feeder and 1KG manual drinkers for baby chicks which are before 1-2 weeks old,after 2 weeks,they will use automatic drinker cups and feeding troughs

3. Why you should consider a brooder cage

In this cage there is no hustle of crowding together and birds killing each other

A cage takes 450 day old chicks at a ago,each cell carries 25 chicks at day one,but we go on reducing on them as they grow bigger

The nipples are movable,they can be lowered or put higher as the chicks grow

There's no hustle of running around as you vaccinate

What is layer cage

1. Layer cage also named battery cage,after pullet growing up to 12 weeks or 16 weeks transport them to this cage

2. The main purpose of the layer battery cage design is to provide a comfortable environment for egg laying birds,they reduce aggression and cannibalism among hens,restrict movement and prevent many natural behavior, it can make egg production rate up to 98%

Tiers: 3 tiers or 4 tiers

Capacity: 96 birds,120 birds,128 birds,160 birds or 200 birds

How to choose your own farm layer battery cage

Poultry farmers’ preference on the cages are not same as their country’s climate(for example Nigeria customers like hot galvanized cage with a 25 years lifespan because of humid and rainy climate),farm conditions such as land size or poultry house size,number of birds starting(for example,Tanzania customers prefer 3 tiers cages while Uganda customers like 4 tiers)
